About the Artist:

Pauly Tamez is an abstract artist whose work is an exploration of color, form, and emotion. Primarily working in oil paints, they create compositions that pulsate with energy and invite viewers into a world of boundless creativity. Watercolor studies serve as a foundation for their larger oil paintings, allowing for a deep exploration of the Texas landscape that ultimately informs their abstract work. Through the intentional use of contrasting and complementary colors, as well as fluid, organic shapes, Pauly aims to evoke a range of emotions and inspire others to embrace their own creative spirit. Deeply influenced by the mentorship of renowned Texas landscape painters Bill Zaner and David Caton, Pauly continues to evolve their artistic practice while honoring the legacy of their mentors.

Pauly and his wife, Linda, and 2 dogs live in the Hill Country west of Boerne, Texas.

Statement

I find painting abstract art to be incredibly freeing and rewarding, and it has helped me become a better landscape painter. It allows me to express myself in ways that I didn’t know were possible, using color and energy to convey my feelings and emotions. I think abstract art is a wonderful way for people to connect with their creativity and see the world in a new way. I love hearing what different people have to say about my paintings, and it’s fascinating to see how they interpret them.
